Mrs. Shifra Greenberger

Director & Owner

Shifra Greenberger lives in Clifton and is the heart and soul of Camp Summer Playland. With over 20 years of experience as an occupational therapist and currently serving as a Pre-1A teacher at YBH, Mrs. G. brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her role as Director of Camp Summer Playland. Her dedication to providing a fun, nurturing, and safe environment is evident in everything she does. With her many years of experience working in camps, Mrs. G. personally oversees every aspect of camp—from the planning and program development to staff training and camper experiences. Her creativity, hands-on leadership, and deep love for children make Camp Summer Playland a truly special place for campers, families, and staff alike.

Mrs. Aliza Blumenthal

Assistant Director

Aliza Blumenthal lives in Clifton and works closely alongside Shifra to oversee every detail of the camp experience. With over 25 years of experience in both formal and informal education, Mrs. B. plays a pivotal role in shaping the camp’s success. Throughout the school year, she is deeply involved in planning, program development, and staff recruitment, ensuring that every aspect of the camp is well-prepared. During the summer, Mrs. B. works hands-on with campers, staff, and parents, overseeing daily operations, guiding staff through training, and ensuring that each camper’s experience is both enriching and enjoyable. Her extensive expertise, organizational skills, and passion for working with children and families make her an integral part of the Camp Summer Playland team.

Mrs. Chani Jaffe

Camp Mother

Chani Jaffe lives in Clifton and is a Pre-1A Morah. Mommy Chani brings warmth and care to Camp Summer Playland as the Camp Mother. She spends her days supporting campers, counselors, and staff, meeting with bunks, and ensuring that everyone has what they need to thrive. Mommy Chani’s nurturing personality and hands-on approach help create a welcoming and supportive environment for all.

Mrs. Leeora Guttman

Division Head, Preschool

Leeora Guttman, from Bergenfield, has been an educator for over 9 years, most recently serving as a special education teacher. Morah Leeora is excited to lead the Preschool Division at Camp Summer Playland, where she focuses on creating memorable and fun experiences for our youngest campers. Her dedication and enthusiasm make her a wonderful role model for both children and staff.

Mrs. Chaviva Alter

Division Head, Juniors, Seniors, & Seniors Plus

Chaviva Alter lives in Clifton and has been in education for several years, currently teaching at Shalshelet. Morah Chaviva’s passion for camp runs deep, having worked in camps since high school. With her creativity and expertise in developing engaging programs, Morah Chaviva brings her energy and vision to the Junior, Senior, and Seniors Plus Divisions, ensuring that each day at camp is filled with excitement and meaningful experiences.

Ms. Michal Roth

Division Head, Teens

Michal Roth, who travels all the way from Baltimore to join us in the  summer, is a teacher at BY of Baltimore and is in the final stages of earning her Master of Social Work. Michal’s energy, enthusiasm, and deep understanding of pre-teens and teens make her the perfect fit to lead the Teen Division. Her creativity and leadership inspire our older campers to get the most out of their summer experience at Camp Summer Playland.

Mrs. Carolyn Stein

Head Lifeguard 

Carolyn Stein lives in Passaic and has been a certified lifeguard and swim instructor for over 16 years. Trained through the American Red Cross, Carolyn is passionate about both swimming and teaching. With her experience as an elementary school teacher, she uses her skills to ensure that all campers gain confidence in the water while prioritizing safety. Carolyn’s calm, professional approach creates a safe and supportive atmosphere for everyone at the pool

Mrs. Chava Weiss

Nurse

Chava Weiss lives in Passaic NJ. As the heart of the camp's well-being, Nurse Chava offers a calming presence for both campers and staff. With a gentle demeanor, she is quick to assess injuries, manage illnesses, and provide first aid with a reassuring smile. Her attentiveness to each child's needs and her ability to remain composed in any situation create a safe and nurturing environment where everyone feels cared for.  Nurse Chava ensures that health and happiness go hand in hand throughout the camp experience.
